Magnetic Mounts are an excellent way to mount a portable CMM arm or laser tracker on a ferrous surface (like a steel plate or table). Some customers use them as a flexible mounting solution on a large steel table, or they may even mount them directly on the bed of a machine tool. Our magnetic mounts turn on and off using a hex key allen wrench so they can be quickly and easily be moved while measuring a large part on a table. In some cases, customers even use a mag mount to put the portable CMM right on the part being measured. This helps ensure that your part will not move relative to your measurement device. Our brand new, 5in magnetic mount offers a lighter, more portable way to mount shorter CMM arms while still offering a very strong, stable base. With a tested pull force over 800 lbs, it is a versatile option for mounting shorter portable CMM arms, like those produced by FARO, Hexagon / Romer, Kreon, Nikon, etc. (up to 9ft long). It is also a good option for mounting large-volume 3D laser scanners, such as the FARO Focus and others. Our magnetic mounts include a universal stainless steel 3-1/2″-8 mounting ring. Each mag mount is shipped in a hard case with custom foam to ensure that they are easy to transport to your work site. We also offer adapters for the 3-1/2″-8 ring for customers needing to use the magnetic mount with a 5/8″ thread for a laser scanner or tribrach, as an example.
